Volunteer with the Museums of Western Colorado
Volunteers are at the heart of the Museums of Western Colorado. Whether you're helping preserve history, engaging with visitors, or working behind the scenes, your time and talents directly support our mission to connect people with the stories, science, and heritage of Western Colorado.
With opportunities across all three museum sites, there’s a place for everyone—no matter your interests or experience.
Do I need prior experience to volunteer?
Not always. Many roles provide training, and we’ll match you with opportunities that fit your skills and interests.
What is the time commitment?
It varies by role. Some are ongoing (weekly or bi-weekly), while others are flexible or event-based.
Can I choose where I volunteer?
Yes! Opportunities are available across all three museum sites.
Are there physical requirements?
Some roles—especially at Cross Orchards and Dinosaur Journey quarry sites—require physical activity. We’ll help you find a good fit.
Is training provided?
Yes. All volunteers receive training, with additional guidance for specialized roles.
How do I log my volunteer hours?
We provide a simple online system for tracking your time. Be sure to log your hours after each shift so we can properly recognize your contributions.
