Museums of Western Colorado Presents “Pterosaurs” at Dinosaur Journey as Summer Exhibition
Fruita, Colo. — This summer, visitors to Dinosaur Journey can take flight into the prehistoric past with Pterosaurs, a dynamic traveling exhibit exploring the remarkable diversity of Earth’s earliest flying vertebrates.
On view from May 15 through September 7, 2026, the exhibit highlights how variations in teeth and tails reveal how different pterosaur species lived, hunted, and adapted to ancient environments.
From sharp-toothed fish hunters like Rhamphorhynchus—with long, rudder-like tails—to massive, toothless giants like Quetzalcoatlus, the exhibit showcases the surprising range of forms these creatures evolved to master the skies millions of years ago.
Through engaging displays and side-by-side comparisons, visitors will explore differences in skull shape, tail length, tooth structure, and body posture across multiple species, offering new insight into how pterosaurs thrived during the age of dinosaurs.
