Shenna Hayden
Executive Director
Shenna Hayden has worked in museums for over 13 years and truly believes that museums are the cornerstone of community learning. If you have talked to her at all, you have probably heard her say,
“Museums are the safe spaces where everyone is welcome and we can all come together and learn side by side.”
Her career began in San Antonio, Texas, at the Witte Museum, where she was a part of the content and exhibit development team for the “New Witte,” a $100M project that opened in March of 2017, and developed K-12 programming across the initiatives of the museum.
Shenna continued her adventure in museums at the Hands On Children’s Museum in Olympia, Washington, in 2019. As Assistant Director, she learned a lot about pivoting a business during COVID and enjoyed listening to and playing with the kids of all ages who visited the museum.
Shenna holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from Baylor University and completed several semesters of post-graduate work in Museum Studies at the University of Oklahoma. She is currently enrolled in the MBA program at Colorado Mesa University.
Fun Facts: Shenna, her husband Rodney, and their 10-year-old son spent 18 months traveling around the western U.S. in an RV during Rodney’s last acoustic concert tour.
As a ranch kid, Shenna grew up on the back of a horse and competed in rodeos until college.
She and her family love the outdoors, hiking, fishing, and camping. In her spare time, she loves reading and cooking!
