Barbara Bowman
Board Member
Barbara was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and graduated from the University of Colorado with a B.S. in Recreation. She lived and worked in Germany for 8 years and has traveled extensively in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, and East Africa. Her career includes management and sales in the travel agency, hotel, and destination marketing industry segments.
Barbara retired from Visit Grand Junction after 27 years and has been Interim Executive Director for Visit Durango in 2018-19 and 2025-26. She currently contracts with the Colorado Tourism Office working on the Do Colorado Right Coalition. Barb also serves as a CDOT Commissioner, and will be District Governor for Rotary District 5470 in 2027.
Past honors include a Governor’s appointment to serve on the Colorado Tourism Office Board, serving on the National Tour Association Board, Tour Colorado Board of Directors and President of the Rotary Club of Grand Junction. Her awards include the Colorado Individual Contribution to Tourism, Chairman’s Award – Colorado Tourism Office, Supplier of the Year – Colorado Meetings and Conventions Magazine, National Tourism Association Volunteer of the Year, Service Above Self award – Rotary Club of Grand Junction and Rotarian of the Year for the Grand Valley.
