Museums of Western Colorado Announces State of the Museum Address and 60th Anniversary Kickoff
Grand Junction, CO — The Museums of Western Colorado invites the community to its annual State of the Museum Address, presented by Executive Director Shenna Hayden, on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. This year’s gathering will reflect on key milestones from 2025 while officially kicking off the organization’s 60th anniversary year.
The morning begins at 8:30 a.m. with the State of the Museum Address, where Hayden will share highlights from the past year—including new and evolving exhibits, expanded educational programs, and strengthened community partnerships. Attendees will gain insight into how the Museums of Western Colorado continues to inspire curiosity, preserve history, and connect people to the stories of our region.
Following the address, the event continues with a Community Roundtable, an interactive discussion inviting residents, partners, and supporters to help shape the museum’s future. Centered on stability, sustainability, and storytelling, the roundtable will explore how the Museums of Western Colorado can continue to do what it does best: inspire and connect our community by championing the scientific and cultural heritage of the Colorado Plateau.
“Our 60th anniversary isn’t just about looking back—it’s about listening, learning, and planning for what’s next,” said Executive Director Shenna Hayden. “We want to hear from our community as we think about how the museums can continue to inspire, educate, and serve our region for generations to come.”
