Spider Woman & Trading Posts Opens January 17, 2026 at Museum of the West
Grand Junction, CO — The Museums of Western Colorado and The Art Center of Western Colorado are proud to present Spider Woman & Trading Posts, a special collaborative exhibition on view from January 17 through March 21, 2026, at the Museum of the West.
This exhibition explores the evolution of Diné (Navajo) weaving traditions, tracing their origins through cultural teachings of Spider Woman to the development of regional styles shaped by historic trading posts across the Navajo Reservation. Featuring works from the permanent collections of both organizations, Spider Woman & Trading Posts highlights the artistry, innovation, and enduring cultural significance of Diné weavers—from early trade textiles to contemporary expressions that blend and expand traditional styles.
The exhibition is hosted at the Museum of the West, located at 462 Ute Avenue in downtown Grand Junction. Visitors are encouraged to note that the exhibition is not on view at The Art Center’s North Seventh Street location.
